Studio 8 reveals how they transformed a multi-generational home into a space that feels both refreshed and familiar.

FIRST IMPRESSION
Studio 8 reveals how they transformed a multi-generational home into a space that feels both refreshed and familiar. “Our site visit left us in awe of the expansive space, characterised by sturdy structural walls built four decades ago,” reminisces the founder. The project titled Home No 3E offered the team an adventure awaiting a masterpiece. Each room, more spacious than the last, exuded a majestic ambience that the clients were eager to retain.

THE ATTRACTION
From the start, the 250 sq. ft. foyer was key to the project, meant to make a strong first impression. The design team maintained its luxury with mushroom-toned marble flooring and a sleek inlay pattern, paired with neutral wall paneling. The doors, with their elegant wainscoting and smooth PU finish, added a touch of class. Two grand chandeliers and large mirrors brought extra glamour, while a seating area with two-tone bamboo chairs reflected comfort with style.

Throughout the home, design elements from the foyer echoed, especially with the arched sliding doors that keep a cohesive look.

The bathroom, with floral wallpaper and blue tiles, was complemented by warm veneer details.

LIVING AREA
In the living room, striking Pentagonia marble and mirror panelling were paired with crisp white seating and bold green accents. A spacious shelving unit showcases travel artefacts, while a dramatic black and white artwork and a playful leather cutwork painting added visual appeal. The living room followed smoothly into an enclosed balcony, where the same flooring pattern from the foyer continued. Rust coloured chairs and a monochrome bar unit brought vibrant accents, complemented by a marble centre table with a textured black glass top. A set of nine Greek god faces, intricately carved in metal, added a unique and personal touch to the space.

ENTERTAINMENT ROOM
The entertainment room featured a sense of warmth and cosiness with its wooden panelled ceiling and detailed wall carvings. A hidden mandir brought in a peaceful touch, while minimalist seating invited relaxation of mind and body. A vibrant orange chair and a human-shaped light fixture against a metal-effect TV panel was added in to bring lively accents and keep the design consistent.

Studio 8 was sure this project would become a masterpiece, given the trust the clients placed in them. With three generations under one roof, creating harmony and balance was essential, and they delivered just that.

In the dining room, a mirror wall pattern and a leather mural framed in veneer panelling made the small space feel larger. The dining console matched the room’s colour scheme, blending style with functionality.

BEDROOM SPACE
Upon entering, the four bedrooms felt both fresh and familiar. The master bedroom, for example, featured a curved fabric wall panel as a focal point, with a ruffled bed back and sleek veneer side tables. A carved glass pendant lamp added some drama, and the study table blended with the room. The walk-in wardrobe was designed with soft colours and fluted glass to enhance the sense of space. In the master bathroom, dark brown and black marble created a rich feel, with a curved metallic panel and hidden storage behind a large mirror adding a touch of luxury.

The parents’ bedroom provided a peaceful retreat with minimalist design, monotone colours, and smart storage solutions. A velvet chair and a floor lamp create a cosy corner for unwinding, making the space a serene haven that reflected the wisdom and tranquillity of the years.

The two daughters’ bedrooms were each transformed to reflect their unique personalities. The first room showcased their daughter’s youthful energy with textured wallpaper and metal accents, including arch panelling on her study table and a bubble swing. Bright artwork and colourful accessories brought vibrancy to the space.

INITIAL VISION FOR HOME NO 3E
To transform a spacious, multi-generational home into a masterpiece that feels both refreshed and familiar, while retaining its majestic ambience.

LIVING ROOM’S STANDOUT FEATURE
The living room featured Pentagonia marble and mirror panelling, with crisp white seating and bold green accents. A spacious shelving unit showcased travel artefacts, complemented by a dramatic black-and-white artwork and playful leather cutwork painting. The design seamlessly flowed into an enclosed balcony with consistent flooring and vibrant accents.

TELL US ABOUT THE AESTHETIC OF THE PROJECT
The aesthetic of Home No 3E combines luxury with comfort, using minimalist design elements, rich textures, and a blend of modern and classic influences. It features cohesive design themes, from arched sliding doors to unique personal touches like Greek god faces and intricate metal carvings.

CHANGE OR ADD ONE ELEMENT TO THE PROJECT
The only issue that concerned me was the complete lack of natural light in the foyer. With such a grand entrance area of 250 sq. ft., and given the existing structure, there wasn’t much we could do. However, I wished there had been a way to incorporate natural light.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE PROJECT
I had the best time working on this project—whether it was the learnings, the journey, the exposure, or our absolutely amazing clients, everything made it special. Sometimes, it’s the process itself that makes the journey so beautiful and leaves an everlasting impression.
